12th Scale Copper Bentley Blower by Carl-Seager 12th Scale Copper Bentley Blower by Carl-Seager
Copper 12th Scale Bentley Blower. Started this a few years ago. Now refining somewhat and embarking on MkII as I have better workshop facilities now and can really get stuck in...as long as I don't burn the workshop down first with my recently completed, and slightly explosive, home-made resistance solderer. Pic shows mahogany forming block used to form copper body...and first bonnet with louvres back to front, dammit. Aluminium formed radiator cowel and mud guards, copper wheel rims (formed around halved turned oak block from sheet and then soldered), copper wire spokes, brass turned hubs. RTV rubber tyres cast in resin mold (from original oak turned tyre). Aluminium head lamp housings formed with made-up oak die set and brute force, lol. Steel and brass soldered chassis. Brass leaf springs (individual leaves) and shock absorbers. Pewter supercharger molded in silicon mold taken from brass and steel original.

About 15" in legth.

Lovely piece of work, I make models for a living, but would love to have time to have a go at this.

Wait, let me make sure I understand this... you are making this model completely from scratch? This is not a kit. You made that wood form first and are using it to form the copper and molding the tires, etc? That is amazing!

Entirely from scratch. If there was such a thing as a copper kit I doubt I'd be able to afford it, lol.

OMG! What amazing detailing! I can see why it has taken you so long to get this completed. Now with your better workshop facilities, you can finish it. I look forward to seeing that. And please be careful with that home-made resistance solderer! Hope you have insurance! LOL! Have fun!
